摘要：

Thermite welds have long been one of the most problematical regions of the rail to inspect. Not only are there metallurgical changes, but the defects that initiate from these welds often do so from locations where it is difficult to get any form of energy in to perform a valid inspection. This paper will discuss the problems and some lab and field experience associated with addressing thermite weld inspection.
