摘要：
Gas-solid reactions are encountered in numerous chemical and materials processing operations. Because of the heterogeneous nature of the reactions, their systematic analysis involves not only chemical kinetics but also geometric factors and transport phenomena. This article discusses the early developments in the theoretical analysis of gas-solid reactions, in which Julian Szekely was a pioneer, followed by the subsequent advances made in the field.
