"Russian Mission in Persia": Content and Interpretation of the Concept in the Late 19th and Early 20th Century

The article is devoted to the content and interpretation of the concept of "Russian mission in Persia", which can be traced in the works of Russian authors - writers, publicists, diplomats, officials of other departments, military - in the last third of the 19th - early 20th century. It is shown that this category, without being strictly defined, interpreted variously by different authors, although it contained numerous intersections of meanings. The main accents in the interpretation of the concept in various travelogues of the late 19th century, documents of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the early 20th century and in the works of officials of the Migration Department, published during the Great War, are revealed.
