摘要
Objective: To investigate the moderating role of materialism i.e., success, happiness and centrality in relationship between and prosocial behavior and life satisfaction among medical doctors. Methodology: This quantitative cross-sectional study was carried out in Rawalpindi and Islamabad during months of September and October, 2018. The sample included 133 doctors, out of which 67 were male and 66 female. They were selected through convenient sampling technique from private and public sectors. Demographic sheet, material value scale, life satisfaction and helping attitudes scale questionnaires were used for data collection. Results: Materialism i.e., success (beta=.04**, AR2=.05), happiness (beta=.06**, Delta R-2=.14) and centrality (beta=.04**, Delta R-2=.04) were significantly acting as moderator for the relationship of prosocial behavior and life satisfaction. We found that amount of prosocial behavior increased in presence of moderators i.e., materialism related to success, happiness and centrality strengthen (at low and medium level, p<.05) towards life satisfaction by explaining 5%, 14% and 4% variances, respectively. Conclusion: Medical profession is still on safer edge of practicing materialism for life satisfaction by choosing prosocial behavior.
