摘要
A diverse range of biologically active compounds are produced in plants that are involved in defense against pathogenic organisms. These compounds made them useful in the preparation of different medicines. The present research work was designed for in vitro screening of phytochemical constituents as well as antibacterial activity of different solvents extract of Ginkgo biloba against selected strains of pathogenic bacteria i.e. Klebsiella pneuinoniae, Acinetobacter 1, Acinetobacter II, Escherichia coli and Lactococcus lactis. Zone of inhibition was measured for each solvent against all selected strains. Results indicate that leaf extract of Ginkgo biloba [L.] contain different phytochemical compounds of which may be used in the formation of different drugs and also have an effective antimicrobial activity against strains of selected bacteria but inhibition zone was different for each solvent and strain. These extracts which may further be used in the preparation of efficient antimicrobial drugs.
