This Viewpoint discusses how problems with the methodology, structure, and recommendations of the Relative Value Scale Update Committee can lead to outdated or inaccurate physician payment data and lower quality of care, and calls for the use of empirical data and patient-specific outcomes to inform physician reimbursement.
