摘要:
We report on our experience and results teaching junior-level engineering electromagnetics with a flipped classroom approach at the Georgia Institute of Technology. In a flipped classroom, students are expected to watch videos and/or complete materials that ordinarily are part of an in-class lecture. During class time, students work on problems in small groups that might otherwise have been part of homework assignments. Homeworks and quizzes have individual and team components. The technique is designed to leverage peer-based learning to emphasize conceptual understanding. The two authors have taught a required junior-level electromagnetics course a total of 6 times with the flipped classroom approach. We report on our techniques as well as our efforts to assess learning outcomes compared to a more traditional lecture-based course.
