摘要
It is shown that an error in Hawkes' analysis which he has now corrected enables agreement on one issue. Further discussion is aimed at resolving the remaining issues. The optical arrangement and object/image relationships are described in more detail. The relationship C-s2 = 2(C-s1 - C-s0) reducing the number of independent C-si coefficients for symmetric lenses from three to two (or to one for thin lenses), is shown to be corroborated by computer generated C-si data for thick lenses with curved principal surfaces as well as for thin lenses.
