摘要
The incoherent inelastic neutron scattering (IINS), Raman and IR absorption spectra were measured and ab initio calculation studies were performed on 1,8-bis(dimethylamino)naphthalene (DMAN-proton sponge) and its protonated form. The IINS technique appeared to be very effective in studies of low frequency vibrations into which the methyl and dimethylamino groups are involved. Spectacular effects are observed on protonation of DMAN with respect to the N(CH3)(2) deformation and CH3 torsional modes in the range below 300 cm(-1). (C) 1998 Elsevier Science B.V.
