摘要
In today's society, the use of Internet has extended to every scope in our lives. This globalized Internet utilization has generated a debate during last years, related to how people use this resource. So, it is necessary to know the different ways the University students are using this network connectivity, if they do it responsibly or conversely it comprises uncontrolled and harmful uses. Therefore, the main objective of this paper is to Know and analyze the self-perceptions of a sample of university students from Colombia in relation to their use of the Internet. To accomplish this task, an adaptation of the Internet Addiction Test (IAT) has been used with a sample of 2964 subjects, using a quantitative research methodology. The obtained outcomes indicate that a approximately one third of the students surveyed self-perceived problematic Internet use (PIU). Likewise, a higher self-perception of PIU was found in the cas of the younger participants and among the female sex. Therefore, it could be said that university students from Colombia perceive Internet use as a problematic rather than addictive.
