Aerospace continues to be one of the most challenging and exciting fields for the application and demonstration of innovative and advanced control algorithms. The IEEE Technical Committee on Aerospace Control (TC-AC) consists of IEEE Control System Society (CSS) members from academia, government, and industry working together to promote the advancement of technology and the knowledge of control systems for a wide range of aerospace applications. Members of TC-AC are actively involved in many of the recent control innovations in aerospace applications. Prof. Martina Mammarella is exploiting tube-based robust model predictive control to develop optimal power allocation systems for future lunar outposts in conjunction with the European Space Agency, while Dr. Justin Bradley is leading a team at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln to develop an unmanned aircraft system-based sensor emplacement system.
