Anisotropic Transverse Resonance in a Symmetrically Loaded Rectangular Cavity

摘要
Anisotropic media provide unique properties not available using isotropic media. These include a high refractive index reducing wavelength in the medium and relatively low magnetic losses. However, fundamental propagation concepts such as anisotropic transverse resonance are not well understood. We derive an anisotropic transverse resonance condition established between the walls of a rectangular cavity and an anisotropic medium to suppress high order resonances produced by a high refractive index. We then demonstrate how this directly translates to a novel tapered shape preserving the transverse resonance of the cavity.
