We demonstrate a novel approach in the implementation of a broadband Optical Network Unit using a Semiconductor Optical Amplifier-based Optical Loop Mirror, both experimentally and via simulations for up to 50 km and 2.5 Gb/s. (C)2008 Optical Society of America
