摘要：

The publication of Liber Novus is examined through an anthropological and cultural lens. Reference is made to the French anthropologist Marcel Mauss' work on gift giving and symbolic exchange in examining the book as a gift containing the hau or mana personality of its author, which entails reciprocity on the part of its receivers. The background to the artistic and literary content of the work is also explored, placing Liber Novus as a high cultural achievement.
