摘要：

In today's metals industry, profitability is the main topic for manufacturers. This means that the demands on quality, productivity, and flexibility of the plants are constantly increasing. ABB's new generation of rolling mill automation system includes an integrated advanced solution suite, which meets the customers' needs for product quality and throughput. The use of ABB's Industrial(IT) (IT for information technology) platform permits mill-wide uniform automation and seamlessly integrating advanced solutions into the process control system. Technological progress in the areas of modeling and simulation, optimization, control, as well as diagnosis and industrial information technology, permits to match the future needs of ABB's customers and their customers.
