Metal derivatives of N1-substituted thiosemicarbazones with divalent metal ions (Ni, Cu): Synthesis and structures

摘要
Reactions of nickel(II) acetate with N-1-substituted pyridine-2-carbaidehyde- and salicylaldehyde thiosemicarbazones, {R-1(H)C-2=N-3-N-2(H)-C-1(=S)-(NHR2)-H-1}, have formed complexes of stoichiometry: (i) [Ni(kappa(3)-N-4, N-3, S-pytscN(1)-R-2)(2)] {R-1 = C5H5N, R-2 = Me, 1: Et. 2: Ph, 3} and (ii) [Ni(kappa(3)-O, N-3, S-stscN(1)-R-2)L] {R-1 = 2-HOC6H4, R-2, L-Me, PPh3, 4; Et, PPh3, 5, Me, py, 6; Ph. py, 7} Likewise copper(II) has formed complexes of stoichiometry [Cu(kappa(3)-O, N-3, S-stscN(1)-R-2)py] {R-1 = 2-HOC6H4, R-2 = Me, 8; Ph. 9}. These complexes have been characterized with the help of analytical data, spectroscopic techniques {IR, H-1 and P-31 NMR, electronic absorption} and single crystal X-ray crystallography (1, 2, 4, 6 and 8). The complexes have either distorted octahedral (1-3) or square planar geometries (4-9). The magnetic susceptibility measurements revealed that complexes 1-3. 8 and 9 are paramagnetic.
