摘要
Icing of rivers hinders navigation and may produce, in extreme cases, exceedingly severe flooding events. The numerical ice model "RICE" was adapted to the conditions that prevail in the River Elbe between the Czech-German border and Geesthacht. The simulation outputs are rated as "satisfactory" to "good". Supplementary model components were developed to make RICE applicable in ice forecasting. Here, the forecasts made in test applications are satisfactory.
