This self-directed learning module highlights the rehabilitative management of acute, subacute, and chronic pain, As part of the chapter on pain in the Self-Directed Physiatric Education Program for practitioners and trainees in physical medicine and rehabilitation, this article contains sections on therapeutic modalities, therapeutic exercise, use of opioids, cost-effectiveness of medication delivery systems, and interdisciplinary pain treatment programs.
