摘要
Background Pulmonary hypertension (PH) is a hemodynamic condition of the pulmonary circulation with an abnormal increase in pulmonary arterial pressure. Objective This article gives an overview of imaging in PH in adults and reviews its value for the detection of PH, the identification of the cause of PH and the prognostic assessment. Material and methods The basic literature, guidelines and expert recommendations are discussed. Results Characteristic imaging findings can identify PH and help in establishing the cause of PH. A number of imaging-based parameters have prognostic value. In the evaluation of suspected PH a structured approach for the use of imaging is recommended. Conclusion The meaningful use of imaging is pivotal for patients with suspected PH, particularly for establishing the cause of PH.
