摘要
The Galerkin approximation, which is used in the Timoshenko beam theory, was investigated with identical and different time functions for transverse deflection and beam's cross-sectional rotation. The equations of motion for identical time functions were obtained using orthogonality conditions. For the different time functions in Galerkin approximation, the equations of motion were derived using Lagrangian approach. The results show that the related time functions in simply supported-simply supported and clamped-simply supported cases are identical.
