In this study, the solution adsorption of Deep Red textile dye on the organobentonite synthesized using cetyltrimethylarnmonium bromide as a cationic surfactant was investigated and the effects of parameters such as temperature, solution pH, adsorbent amount, adsorption time on the adsorption were determined. According to the results, it was found that the adsorption of Deep Red was better at acidic pH. It was observed that adsorption reached equilibrium in about 18 hours and the kinetic data was fitted to pseudo second order model. Adsorption isotherms were analyzed according to Langmuir, Freundlich and Temkin isotherm models and they well fitted to Langmuir isotherm for temperatures of 25 degrees C, 35 degrees C, 45 degrees C. To save both time and energy by eliminating the step of organobentonite synthesis, one-step adsorption process was performed by adding cetyltrimethylammonium bromide together with bentonite to the dye solution simultaneously. The results showed that this one-step process exhibited higher dye removal efficiency compared to organobentonite process.
