Investigations on effects of niacin supplements on milk performance and milk composition as well as on rumen and physiological parameters in young dairy cows

摘要
A study with young dairy cows of the German Frisien Breed showed that the application of a vitamin cocktail containing vit. A, D and E fed alone (group II) or in combination with niacine (group III) stabilized milk performance in the 2nd half of lactation as compared to controls (group I). In the experimental groups a tendency towards increased milk casein concentrations or an increased casein. portion at total protein was observed. Under the conditions of a roughage based ration a significant influence of niacine supplements on these parameters was not detected. One of the reasons is supposed to be the low production level of the young dairy cows as compared to older ones.
