摘要
Unknown to many scholars of Golden Age period, travel books to the Holy Land are an extremely successful literary genre, with dozens of titles and editions in the 16th and 17th centuries. Francisco Guerrero (1528-1599), a prestigious music teacher in the cathedral of Seville, made a pilgrimage to Jerusalem (1582) and wrote a beautiful written testimony of his Viaje (1588), a short narrative that was widely disseminated; it is a hybrid piece, as befits this literary genre, halfway between confessional prose, the pilgrimage guide, autobiography and the geographical story.
