A new rehabilitation protocol for massive rotator cuff repair

uWe have been introduced to perform immediate postoperative active exercises in gravity reduced positions with relaxation and statokinetics exercise for massive rotator cuff tear following surgical repair. The author's made sling with 30 degrees abduction pillow as a support was used. Within 8 weeks, all patients could elevated their arms over 150 degrees in standing position. The early active exercises with constant reevaluating balanced scapular muscle function would be very effective to regain normal range of motion and return to activity of daily living, even if rotator cuff repair is performed under tension.
