摘要:
1-Methyladenine (1-MeAde), the maturation-inducing substance of starfish, is produced by ovarian follicle cells upon stimulation with a gonad-stimulating substance (GSS) released from radial nerves. Previous in vitro studies have shown that 1-MeAde is newly synthesized via methylation after GSS stimulation. This study investigated 1-MeAde biosynthesis in isolated follicle cells of Asterina pectinifera. The result showed that GSS stimulates the synthesis of 1-MeAde from ATP via the methylation of S-adenosylmethionine in follicle cells.
