摘要
The development and modernization of economy result in increased demand for high quality human capital. The main aim of the paper is to assess human capital in the EU countries from the perspective of the level of education. The following detailed objectives are adopted in the paper: assessment of education as a factor shaping human capital in the EU countries and assessment of the "human resources" factor included in the SII. The reflections presented in the paper showed the existing diversity in the sphere of education between the European Union countries. They pointed to egalitarianism of education in the EU states, to an increase in the degree of tertiary education and to an unsatisfactory level of lifelong learning in the EU countries. The paper is based on a critical literature review and analysis of secondary data.
