Prefabricated components are ideal for energetic retrofitting. In this paper an innovative facade refurbishment is presented, that provides additionally to the insulation the integration of a central ventilation system. In this case, the air duct system is integrated in the building envelope. In preliminary studies, the basic function of the system has already been demonstrated by measurements at a test building and by dynamic thermal simulations. This paper presents flow investigations of the air ducts, examined in the flow laboratory. The pressure drop of the air ducts, which are integrated in the insulation panel, was measured both for straight ducts and selected fittings. Minimization of the pressure drop and optimal hydraulic design of the air ducting is decisive for the operation of the ventilation system.
