Power-over-Fiber Impact on 5G NR Transmission in Standard Single Mode Fibers

摘要
We present experimental results of Power-over-Fiber (PoF) impact on 5G New Radio Analog Radio over fiber transmission. A 17 GHz radio-over-fiber link is implemented with 16-QAM signal of 5 MHz bandwidth. Up to 2 W optical power is used for optically powering remote node in a shared scenario with data and energy delivery. PoF high-power laser instabilities are analysed and their impact is discussed for different link lengths and power levels. It is shown that for PoF levels up to 2 W with high-power laser instabilities below 2%, 5G NR transmission at 17 GHz can coexist following the standard in a 10 km SMF link.
