Android-Based Remote-Control with Real-Time Video Surveillance for Wi-Fi Robot

摘要
This paper presents an Android-based wireless remote-control system for a wheeled mobile robot. A micro Wi-Fi controller board running OpenWrt Operating System was introduced to control the video streaming and communication between mobile robot and android device remotely through Socket Connections. A network camera is mounted on the Wi-Fi board through an USB interface to acquire images, which are displayed on the control device for the remote operator's operation. The RS232 serial port linking the Wi-Fi board to the robot and long run batteries are used to give them power supply without any cable connected. The designed Wi-Fi Robot can be remotely operated from anywhere inside the scope of wireless coverage as long as there is an android device that running the control system.
