A new method to improve the pulse-jet cleaning performance of filter cartridges and its application to dust control in underground coal mines

摘要
Cartridge collectors are widely used in industry for the control of dust emissions, especially for fine particulate matter. Regular pulse-jet cleaning is necessary to remove the dust cake from the filter cartridge. Incomplete cleaning, however, is usually a challenging problem for the cartridge collector. To address this issue, this study proposes a new method to improve the cleaning effect of the filter cartridge by covering the filter with coating particles that could reduce the adhesion force between the dust layer and the filter media. Laboratory experiments have validated the effectiveness, which showed that using coating particles could improve the regeneration efficiency and reduce the residual dust mass in the pulse-jet cleaning. In addition, field tests in the coal mine have demonstrated that using coating particles could retard the decline in the airflow rate of the dust collector, allowing its dust removal efficiency to be maintained at a high level.
