摘要
Groundwater flow in fractured limestone aquifers is not linear (perpendicular to gradient), but follows a tortuous, "zigzag" path. As a result, migration of contaminants also follows a tortuous path. This paper summarizes pre-survey activities, subsurface field activities, and laboratory analytical results, for site investigations conducted at Kadena Air Base, Okinawa, Japan. Investigations were conducted, from 28 June to 25 October 1993, to identify possible sources of diesel fuel contamination found in a municipal water supply well, owned and operated by the Okinawa Enterprise Bureau, within the Air Ease.
