Optimization design on root stress of helical gear in high-power emulsion pump

摘要
In this paper, a numerical method, based on the finite element technique, has been established for predicting the root stress of the helical gear in a high-power emulsion pump. The FE prediction has been validated by the theoretical result. A parametric study has been carried out, in order to investigate the effect of the number of teeth, face width, and helix angle on the root stress. The FE result reveals that the pinion gear with 25 teeth, face width of 110 mm and helix angle of 20 degrees is the optimized design for the deceleration system of the emulsion pump.
