Dynamic transceiver, carrier and time-slot allocation strategies for mobile satellite systems

In this paper, the problem of ccp-channel interference (CI) and the importance of the CIR (Carrier-to-Interference Ratio) in PMSSs (Personal Mobile Satellite Systems) using Dynamic Channel Allocation (DCA) schemes is highlighted. Limitations of the traffic capacity due to the maximum transmission power constraint and due to the low capacity of a satellite's battery are assessed. A new DCA scheme for PMSSs called CIR based DCA that takes into account maximum power and battery capacity limitations of a satellite is presented, The performance of the proposed scheme is evaluated by simulations regarding call and handover blocking probabilities, traffic capacity, and power consumption, and compared to a basic DCA scheme called Interference based DCA.
