Leishmaniasis is endemic in areas of the tropics, subtropics, and southern Europe, in settings ranging from rain forests in the Americas to deserts in western Asia and from rural to periurban areas. Of the estimated 1.5 million new cases each year, 90% occur in Afghanistan, Brazil, Iran, Peril, Saudi Arabia, and Syria. This report describes a case of cutaneous leishmaniasis in a patient who had visited Peru and reviews the diagnosis land treatment of this infection.
