摘要
In this literature review, we propose a synthesis of the main research carried out in the context of orthographic processing in Arabic (processing of individual letters at their correct positions during a visual fixation). In the light of the results from studies conducted in skilled and beginning readers, the synthesis provides an overview on the universal aspects of the cognitive mechanisms involved in reading, and on the specific aspects underlying the Arabic writing system. It allows to underline the linguistic and sociolinguistic constraints related to learning to read in Arabic. (C) 2022 Societe Franc, aise de Psychologie. Published by Elsevier Masson SAS.
