Effect of sintering temperature on NPO, X7R & Z5U MLCC capacitor

摘要
The growing demand for a high volumetric efficiency Multilayer Ceramic Capacitor (MLCC) has accelerated research activities in raw materials and manufacturing technology of capacitors. To increase the volumetric efficiency of the capacitor, there are two obvious parameters that can be changed 1) Decrease the active dielectric thickness and 2) Increase the permittivity of the dielectric. Therefore a number of firing studies were conducted to determine the temperature needed to optimize the dielectric characteristics for NPO, X7R & Z5U. It was determined that the optimum firing temperature for X7R and Z5U was 1125 degrees C (3-4 Hours, soak) and 1105 degrees C (1 hour 30 minutes soak) for NPO.
