Parotid tumors in the parapharyngeal space

Seven parapharyngeal space tumors arising from the parotid gland were treated from 1993 to1994, four pleomorphic adenomas and three carcinomas. The pleomorphic adenomas were operated upon through a cervico-parotid approach, with an additional enoral incision in two cases, one for exensive diserase, one for excision of a transoral biopsy site. An extended adenoid cystic carcinoma was resected in a palliative intention through a transparotid approach, an extended ubdifferentiaed carcinoma was irradiated, and a carcinoma in a pleomorphic adenoma was resected through an extended radical parotidectomy.
