摘要
ZnO and CdSe crystals have similar hexagonal wurtzite structures with a contraction along the c-axis of the crystal, but contrary electronic fine structures for ZnO:Mn2+ (D < 0) and CdSe:Mn-2 (D > 0) have been found in EPR experiments. We demonstrate that the ground-state splitting in ZnO:Mn2+ is due to a trigonal ligand field, whereas the main physical mechanism of the splitting in CdSe:Mn2+ can be attributed to the combined effect of a slight trigonal distortion and a covalence spin-orbit coupling interaction.
