摘要
OBJECTIVE. To describe the effectiveness and safety of using ginger for nausea and vomiting during pregnancy. MATERIAL AND METHODS. It has been done a systematic rewiev of articles, other rewievs based on scientific evidence and clinical practice guidelines. RESULTS. 90% of pregnant women use alternative medicine, natural remedies or dietary supplements. Several studies conclude the effectiveness of ginger over placebo, vitamin B6 and dimenhydrinate. Its use hasn't demonstrated the increase of perinatal or fetal death, premature birth, lower weight or APGAR. However, determined research claims the anticoagulant effect, which can increase hemorrhages and miscarriages. CONCLUSION. Ginger can be considered a good option for the treatment of nausea and vomiting, although there is not enough scientific evidence to establish dose or duration.
