In two phenological key moments, bloom and veraison, and in 1993 and 1994, N, P, K, Ca and Mg petiole contents were determined in order to assess variety (Tempranillo and Garnacha tinta (red Grenache)) incidence on the vine nutritional status. On the other hand potassium concentration in the must and wine were determined. It was verified that variety is a determining factor in nutrition, and it was noticed that in Garnacha tinta (red Grenache) the N. P, Ca and Mg levels are significantly higher than those found in Tempranillo. regardless of the phenological phase year of observation. The Tempranillo variety had absorbing capacity for potassium higher than Garnacha tinta (red Grenache), which showed a tendency towards Mg. At the same time, potassium concentration in must and wine of Tempranillo variety was higher than Garnacha tinta (red Grenache) variety.
