Estimating the temperature and emissivity of land surface from NOAA measurements of outgoing thermal radiation

摘要
A method for estimating the temperature and emissivity of dry land from NOAA measurements of outing thermal radiation in the 10.5-12.5 mu m transmission window is examined (AVHRR and TOVS measurements). The method involves estimation of the emissivity with subsequent determination of the land temperature using a local split window algorithm. Testing of the method on actual data confirms its efficiency.
