摘要
The article attempts to portray Yu. Lotman as a person and scholar through the eyes of a student, and then a young researcher, based on personal memories. The article considers the role of Lotman in the creation of the Tartu-Moscow semiotic school and the significance of the works of Lotman in the field of structuralism, as well as possible reasons for the scientific evolution of Lotman from the study of the history of literature and the structure of the literary text to the investigation of culture as a dynamic process and as a manifestation of the complex interaction between cultural texts and cultural codes.
