The Application of Lotus Pattern in Dunhuang Mogao Caisson on Textile

In order to explore the collision effect between the lotus pattern in Mogao caisson and textile, enrich the design elements of textile design and revitalize the traditional patterns in the new era, five representative lotus patterns were selected based on the lotus pattern of the Tang Dynasty as the research object,. With the expert discussion method, the characteristics and cultural connotation of the lotus pattern were acquired. Then, according to the needs of post-90s college students on the textile pattern, the lotus pattern was redesigned, and the design effect was displayed and evaluated by a virtual fitting system. The results show that the lotus pattern in the Tang Dynasty has a luxurious, complicated, plump feature, this is inconsistent with the post-90s college students pursuit in a modern pattern to exhibit their personality characteristics. Traditional lotus patterns must be based on the needs of modern people, using modern design techniques to exaggerate, simplify, and combine with modern fashion elements.
