摘要
A sufficient condition for the existence of a common Lyapunov function for two stable linear second order systems (x) over dot = A(i)x, A(i) is an element of {A(1), A(2)} is presented, namely that the matrix pencil A(1) + gamma A(2) have distinct negative eigenvalues for all gamma is an element of [0, infinity]. The implications of this result for the stability of more general switching systems are briefly discussed toward the end of the note.
