摘要
Reaction synthesis of Ti/TiC particulate reinforced composites was studied. The fabrication of titanium composites by the in situ solid-gas reaction was explored by utilizing propane gas and hot extrusion for full densification. The results showed that TiC was formed along with various transient carbide and hydride during the reaction, but disappeared later. The reaction synthesis produced composites with substantially higher strengths.
