Eight two-dimensional lanthanide coordination polymers: {[Ln(2)(Cmba)(3)(H2O)(5)]center dot 3H(2)O}(n) (Ln = La (1), Pr (2), Nd (3), Sm (4), Eu (5), Gd (6), Tb (7), Dy (8), Cmba = 3-(carboxymethoxy)-4-methoxybenzoic acid anion) were fabricated and structurally characterized. Compounds 1-8 are isostructural belonging to the triclinic system with space group P-1. Luminescence analyses were performed on coordination polymers containing Sm3+, Eu3+ and Tb3+, and compound 4 and 5 shows a different color emission upon different excitation wavelength.
