摘要
The author analyzes how the concept of syntax should be explicated. It being impossible to formulate an explication applicable to all languages, we should be content by achieving an explication applicable only to some languages or their fragments; this explication can later be enriched or made more precise using data provided by analysis of other languages or their fragments. Such an initial explication of the concept of syntax can be achieved by analyzing complex expressions consisting of saturated and unsaturated expressions. The author comes to the conclusion that the syntax of such complex expressions consists of three aspects: structure, syntactical categories and the role of the immediate parts.
