摘要
Carbon capture and storage (CCS) has been broadly recognized as a key technology to mitigate the climate changes induced by enormous emissions of greenhouse gases, especially CO2. Among the various CO2 sorbents, recently, MgO-based sorbents have received tremendous attention due to their high theoretical capture capacity, wide availability, low cost, non-toxicity and wide operation temperatures. With the rapid progress in these promising CO2 sorbents, a timely review is highly required. In this work, we provide an overview of the state-of-the-art research studies in the literature on MgO sorbents. We critically summarize the various approaches for performance enhancement, optimization of operation conditions, and granulation and their applications mainly in sorption-enhanced water gas shift (SEWGS). Potential future development recommendations are also discussed. We hope that this work will benefit researchers from both academic and industrial communities and help pave the way for major breakthroughs in both fundamental research and industrial applications in this field.
