p-cumylphenyl methacrylate: Synthesis, polymerization, and copolymerization

摘要
A new methacrylic monomer from the reaction of methacryloyl chloride with p-cumylphenol has been synthesized. The effect of sterically bulky p-cumylphenyl group on homopolymerization and copolymerization was examined. In copolymers, p-cumylphenyl methacrylate increases the T-g of acrylic polymers. The T-g of the copolymers as determined by DSC agrees with both the Flory-Fox and Gordon-Taylor relationships.
