摘要
Contract 103 on London Underground Ltd's Jubilee Line Extension Project comprises the running tunnels between Waterloo and London Bridge Stations along with a new station complex at Southwark providing passenger interchange with Railtrack's Waterloo East mainline station. Having been awarded the Design Contract by London Underground Limited, Babtie DHV prepared a number of outline schemes for discussion with the Jubilee Line Extension Project Team. The contract was tendered in Autumn 1992 on one of these designs and, following a period of evaluation and Government approval to the Project as a whole was awarded to Aoki Soletanche Joint Venture in late 1993. Work commenced on site in early 1994 and the project is due for completion in early 1998. This paper describes the ways in which the design as presented at the time of tender was changed and developed by the Contractor and his designer G. Maunsell and Partners in conjunction with JLEP and Babtie DHV to facilitate construction within the specified time period at an economically advantageous price. The construction of some of the more interesting and difficult parts of the contract are then described in more detail.
